Ella Mai Howell is an English singer and songwriter. Her singing career began at the British and Irish Institute of Modern Music in London in 2014, during which time she auditioned as part of a trio in Season 11 of The X Factor. In 2015, she uploaded to SoundCloud a four-track original EP titled Troubled, and was spotted on social media by American record producer Mustard and signed with her label, 10 Summers Records. From 2016 to 2018, she released three EPs on the label, including Time, Change and Ready. Her debut studio album of the same name was released in October 2018 and features the singles "Boo'd Up" and "Trip", which were released on February 20, 2018 and August 3, respectively. In 2018. In 2019, "Boo 'd Up" was nominated for two Grammy Awards: Song of the Year and Best R&B Song, won second prize, as well as Mai herself nominated for Sudden Director Britain at the Brit Awards 2019
Singer who was a member of the Arize trio on season 11 of The X Factor. Shortly later, she and Arize parted up, and she went on to record many EPs on SoundCloud.
