Karl Anthony Malone is a retired American professional basketball player. With the nickname "Postman", he is considered one of the most powerful strikers in NBA history. Malone spent his first 18 seasons in the National Basketball Association with the Utah Jazz and formed a formidable duo with teammate John Stockton. He was twice NBA Player of the Year, 14 times NBA All-Star and 11 times a member of the All-NBA First Team. 36,928 points in his career marked the second all-time in NBA history behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and he holds the record for the number of most tried and successful free throws, in addition to being placed in the second fully NBA team with Kobe Bryant and behind James Lebron. Malone played college basketball at Louisiana University of Technology. During his three seasons with Louisiana Tech, he helped the Bulldogs basketball team reach their first NCAA tournament in 1984 and first place in the 1985 Southland Conference .
