She is a well-known proponent of the humane treatment of slaughter animals and is the author of over 60 scientific papers on animal behavior. Grandin is a breeding consultant, where she advises on animal behavior and is also a spokesperson for autism. Grandin was one of the first people on the autism spectrum to record the information she learned from her personal experience with autism. She is currently a lecturer in animal science at the College of Agricultural Sciences at Colorado State University. In 2010, Time 100, an annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world, named her in the “Hero” category. She was the subject of the semi-biographical film Temple Grandin, winner of an Emmy and Golden Globe award. Grandin was a strong advocate for autism rights and neurodiversity movements.
